NEW YORK CITY BALLET SPRING SEASON   •   4.28.15 - 6.07.15

Spring at New York City Ballet begins with a festival of Balanchine Black & White ballets featuring 12 of his streamlined marvels of music and movement. At the 2015 Spring Gala, the Company will premiere Peter Martins’ staging of La Sylphide, paired with Bournonville Divertissements, with six additional performances showcasing these famous works by the Danish master August Bournonville. Robbins’ iconic West Side Story Suite and Balanchine’s neoclassical masterpiece Symphony in C, share the stage with less frequently performed ballets such as Martins’ rhythmic Symphonic Dances and Balanchine’s romantic pas de deux Sonatine (last seen in 2004). The perfect send-off for summer, Balanchine’s lush staging of the Bard’s classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream concludes the 2014–15 Season.

ALVIN AILEY AMERICAN DANCE THEATER   •   6.10.15 - 6.21.15

Join Ailey at Lincoln Center for 15 performances only.  Highlights include the world premiere of Exodus by Rennie Harris, the Company premiere of No Longer Silent by Artistic Director Robert Battle, a new production of Talley Beatty’s Toccata, and a new production of Judith Jamison’s "A Case of You" duet from Reminiscin’. These works will be joined by returning audience favorites, including Mr. Ailey’s Revelations at most performances.  Ailey’s Lincoln Center season also marks the last chance to see Wayne McGregor’s stunning Chroma, as well as the final New York performances of long-time Company members Antonio Douthit-Boyd and Kirven Douthit-Boyd.

THE ROYAL BALLET    •   6.23.15 - 6.28.15

The Joyce Theater Foundation is proud to present The Royal Ballet in its first New York appearance since 2004. The engagement opens with a gala performance of Frederick Ashton’s The Dream, featuring some of the choreographer’s “most quirkily beautiful choreography” (The Guardian, London). Inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the work will also appear on a program with Kenneth MacMillan’s Song of the Earth. The third program is a mixed bill devoted to Wayne McGregor’s Infra; Liam Scarlett’s The Age of Anxiety; and Divertissements, highlights from the company ’s repertory that include the central pas de deux from Royal Ballet Artistic Associate Christopher Wheeldon’s Aeternum.
