NEW YORK CITY BALLET - Fall Season   •   9.23.14 - 10.19.14

Opening the 2014–15 Season are four weeks of fall performances highlighting the Company’s unwavering commitment to creative innovation with world premieres from Soloist and newly appointed Resident Choreographer Justin Peck, Corps de Ballet Member Troy Schumacher, The Royal Ballet’s Liam Scarlett, and renowned dance maker Alexei Ratmansky. Nowhere are Balanchine’s ballets performed with the authority of the NYCB dancers, and 14 performances on three programs are devoted to his treasured repertory. Encore performances of the Peck/Sufjan Stevens collaboration Everywhere We Go, the NY premiere of Ballet Master and former Soloist Jean-Pierre Frohlich’s Varied Trio (in four), and the farewell performance of beloved Principal Dancer Wendy Whelan complete the fall.

American Ballet Theatre looks forward to celebrating its 75th Anniversary with a look back at some of the important ballets in the Company’s history, as well as a look to the future with an exciting World Premiere by the prodigiously talented Liam Scarlett, The Royal Ballet’s first Artist in Residence. MIKHAILOVSKY BALLET   •   11.11.14 - 11.23.14

The world-renowned Mikhailovsky Ballet Company will tour the US for the first time in November 2014. The programme will include world classics, ballets of the Soviet period, and contemporary productions, and will showcase the company's ongoing search for new technical forms. Audiences will have the chance to enjoy the romantic Giselle, regarded as a masterpiece of classical ballet; the charming and evocative Don Quixote; and a production that has never been shown overseas – The Flames of Paris,based on the events of the French Revolution. The collection of one-act ballets, Three Centuries of Russian Ballet, includes Le Halte de cavalerie (The Cavalry Halt), The Young Lady and the Hooligan, set to music by Shostakovich, and Prelude.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY IN CONCERT    •   4.08.14 - 4.12.15

For the first time ever in North America, the complete film trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, will be presented live, in concert, April 8-12, 2015. Beneath a giant screen, the Academy Award-winning scores by Howard Shore will be performed by 250 musicians, on stage, including symphony orchestra, chorus and soloists. Two complete trilogies, Wednesday-Friday, April 8-10, and Saturday-Sunday, April 11-12.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy In Concert, at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, features the 21st Century Orchestra of Lucerne, Switzerland, conducted by Ludwig Wicki, which specializes in bringing films and their scores to life, and performs an annual program of film concerts at the KKL Luzern.
