The David H. Koch Theater, designed specifically to showcase dance performance, is home to the New York City Ballet. As one of the signature venues of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, this recently renovated theater has hosted countless other historic performances, including presentations by the Royal Ballet, the Peking Opera, and the Bolshoi Ballet.

Paul Taylor American Modern Dance

Paul Taylor American Modern Dance will return to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center from October 29 to November 17, with Paul Taylor: Celebrate the Dancemaker, featuring the Paul Taylor Dance Company in a tribute to its founder, who died in 2018. The engagement marks PTAMD’s first Lincoln Center Season under Artistic Director Michael Novak. Highlights include 19 Taylor masterworks, and commissioned works created on PTDC by Mr. Abraham (World Premiere) and Guest Resident Choreographers Ms. Gillis and Ms. Tanowitz (Lincoln Center Premieres).

Lanzhou Song & Dance Theatre Presents: Tales of the Silk Road

Tales of the Silk Road was created in 2000. It is a large-scale dance drama of Dunhuang subject. This dance drama won all the state-level grand awards of stage art, including the China Lotus Awards, the national outstanding stage art project, the Five-One Project Publications Prize, the 60th anniversary outstanding repertoire Awards, etc.. By September. 2019, the Tales of the Silk Road was performed more than 1300 times in 31 different cities in China and also more than 10 countries overseas. It has become a successful example of “more performance, more outputs” for Chinese dance drama in the new century.

Shanghai Ballet: Grand Swan Lake

China Arts and Entertainment Group (CAEG) introduce Shanghai Ballet to the David H. Koch Theater with an internationally prominent and critically acclaimed Grand Swan Lake. With forty eight swans on stage, the production was directed and choreographed by Derek Deane, formerly the Artistic Director of English National Ballet and currently Artistic Director of Shanghai Ballet, with his team. It has toured 96 successful performances in Europe and Australia since December 2015. Featuring principal dancers Wu Husheng and Qi Bingxue as well as international guest stars, the Grand Swan Lake, with more than 80 dancers’ participation, will follow the timeless tragic love story of Princess Odette and Prince Siegfried and feature the timeless music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, played live by the New York City Ballet Orchestra, and conducted by Charles Barker from American Ballet Theatre.
