Join us for a spectacular Paul Taylor American Modern Dance Season as we celebrate Paul Taylor’s legacy during our 2019 Season.

Paul Taylor American Modern Dance will return to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center from October 29 to November 17, with Paul Taylor: Celebrate the Dancemaker, featuring the Paul Taylor Dance Company in a tribute to its founder, who died in 2018. The engagement marks PTAMD’s first Lincoln Center Season under Artistic Director Michael Novak. Highlights include 19 Taylor masterworks, and commissioned works created on PTDC by Mr. Abraham (World Premiere) and Guest Resident Choreographers Ms. Gillis and Ms. Tanowitz (Lincoln Center Premieres).

Join us on Tuesday, October 29 or Tuesday, November 5 as we celebrate our founder and leader of the first 64 years, Paul Taylor. The number of people we anticipate wishing to join us in this celebration requires two Memorial Performances FREE to the public. The program will be the same for both events: the Paul Taylor Dance Company (PTDC) performing four Taylor masterworks: Aureole, Troilus and Cressida (reduced), Last Look and Beloved Renegade, with Taylor 2 sharing the stage with PTDC in Troilus and Cressida (reduced). Limited tickets remain. We ask that you select one performance only, and there is a two ticket maximum per person.

On Tuesday, November 12 at 7 PM, as PTAMD partners with three world-class organizations to celebrate internationally acclaimed choreographer Donald McKayle, who died in April of 2018, by presenting three of his greatest works.

Dayton Contemporary Dance Company will perform Rainbow ‘Round My Shoulder (1959), Juilliard Dance will perform Crossing the Rubicon (2017), and Ronald K. Brown/Evidence will perform Songs of the Disinherited (1972).  View slideshow >

This memorial celebration performance of Mr. McKayle is being offered free to the public. Free tickets can be obtained online at the Koch Box Office or by calling 212-496-0600. There is a four ticket maximum per person.

Through our continued partnership with Orchestra of St. Luke’s, we will have live music at every performance. The Orchestra will be conducted by Taylor Music Director and Maestro Donald York and Maestro David LaMarche. Music will be performed live by Devon Guthrie, Soprano, and St. George’s Choral Society at performances of Beloved Renegade. Performances of Company B. will have live accompaniment by music jazz vocal trio, Duchess.

The Gala performance on October 30 features performances by Special Guest Artists Misty Copeland, principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre and Taylor alum Michael Trusnovec. The program also includes a World Premiere by Mr. Abraham and Mr. Taylor’s final work, Concertiana, which premiered in 2018.

A special evening co-produced by the American Dance Festival entitled ICONS: Taylor/Katz, on Monday, November 11, will feature the work of two of our greatest artists, Paul Taylor and Alex Katz, painter, with four of their genius collaborations: Sunset, Scudorama, Private Domain and Diggity. Join us on the Promenade of the Koch Theater as we continue to celebrate the iconic collaborations between Paul Taylor and Alex Katz immediately following the ICONS performance beginning at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the reception are $50.

TaylorNEXT Nights (October 31, November 8 and 16) are evening performances curated by Taylor dancers to introduce patrons ages 21-45 to the Taylor world. On these evenings, TaylorNEXT members have access to the Mr. & Mrs. Walter H. Weil Premium Discount Ticket Program, where premium seats are available at a 70% discount and are invited to attend backstage tours led by Taylor dancers. Following the November 16 performance, the third annual TaylorNEXT Party will be held on the Koch Theater Promenade, where members are invited to celebrate the Taylor legacy in style.
